- #GoodStoryFriday: After a failed 2002 coup, Ivory Coast plunged into violence and political instability followed by a decade of tensions, and flair ups of fighting. The UN established a peacekeeping mission and imposed sanctions. Ivory Coast has since grown – democratically and economically. Today, the UN Security Council unanimously voted to lift remaining sanctions and pull out the 6,000 UN peacekeepers and international police by next April. The UN mission will officially close in June 2017. A success story indeed and a #goodnewsFriday.
